What Is Spring Select?
AYSO Spring Select is a competitive season for teams comprised of players selected by a particular coach to participate.
There is no requirement that a player have played on a competitive team before; however, the player must have participated in at least half of the previous Fall season.
The Spring Select program runs from March through May/June. Teams may also choose to participate in tournaments beginning January through July.
Player Criteria
- Must be registered in the Fall season.
- Must have played at least 50% of regular season games.
- Coaches scout Fall Core season players.
- Player selection is based on coach evaluation.
- Number of teams depends on qualified coaches and player availability.
Coach Requirements
- Complete Safe Haven & concussion training.
- Be certified in division applying for.
- Maintain current volunteer registration.
- Remain in good standing within AYSO.
- Support referee and volunteer requirements.
Program Overview
Spring Select gives players and coaches the opportunity to further develop soccer skills beyond the Fall Core season.
Teams compete against neighboring AYSO regions in a fun and competitive environment designed to encourage player growth and teamwork.
Participation requires strong commitment from players and families, including practices, league games, tournaments, fundraising, and volunteer participation.
Commitment
Coaches, players, and parents are expected to fully support practices, games, tournaments, and team responsibilities throughout the season.
Games & Tournaments
Games are typically played on Saturdays with occasional Sunday or weekday matches depending on tournament schedules.
Teams may participate in additional AYSO tournaments throughout Southern California.
